The best route is the one that fits
Benasque has very famous routes, but not all work equally well for families. Before deciding, check elevation, real walking time, shade, access, group motivation and possible stops.


Travelling with children or mixed groups does not mean giving up the mountains. It means choosing better, leaving margin and not measuring success only in kilometres.

Benasque has very famous routes, but not all work equally well for families. Before deciding, check elevation, real walking time, shade, access, group motivation and possible stops.
Llanos del Hospital works well for open scenery and relaxed walking. Gorgas de Alba adds forest and water in a contained outing. Aigualluts can work as a family route in a shorter version from La Besurta when access and weather fit.
Water, sun protection, a warm layer, comfortable footwear, snacks and timing are basics. In the mountains, heat, storms, mud, remaining snow or tiredness can change even a known route.
A good Pyrenees trip does not require completing the original route every time. A shorter waterfall, village walk or relaxed meal can save the day, especially with children.
